Kano Pillars captain, Theophilus Afelokhai, has saluted his teammates for achieving back-to-back success in the Glo Premier League.
Pillars lost 0-2 at Lobi Stars on match day 38, but it didn't change anything as their closest rivals Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi Warriors also failed to secure the required points at Gombe United and Enugu Rangers, respectively.
The feat makes Pillars the first team to win back-to-back titles after Enyimba.
"This is my third league title with Kano Pillars. I'm happy we have retained the title.
"Last year people said we didn't win well. Now we have won again to show we remain the best," Afelokhai said to supersport.com.
Afelokhai maintained that the contributions of the club's supporters cannot be over-emphasized.
"Pillars remain grateful to the fans. The players always appreciate their presence and we recognise their role in the success story," Afelokhai told supersoort.com.
