Sharks forward, Tayo Fabiyi returns to league action after a seven-week injury spell and is vowing to send former champions, Enyimba International back on the short trip to Aba with no points. He last played in a Match Day 3 game in Owerri against Heartland FC and will incidentally be returning for another engagement with another of the four Oriental teams..
Sharks are top of the table for the third week running after toppling Akwa United in Match Day 8 following a 2-1 win in Kaduna but Fabiyi says he relishes the chance to return against Enyimba having nicked the lone goal that turned over the three points to the Blue Angels.
Speaking ahead of the clash with the Peoples Elephant and against the background of a long injury lay-off, Tayo was upbeat, exuding confidence, excitement and optimism on the chances of the table toppers retaining their lead at the end of the tussle on Wednesday.
“Sharks will pick the three points tomorrow and I look forward to scoring again as was the case last season. We are not about to give up leadership of the league because our collective ambition this season is to break the jinx of never having won the league title and God will help us achieve this”.
Tayo is impressed by the team’s performance in the period he was side-lined and praised his mates for keeping them not just in contention but as leaders on the log.
“I am excited to be back and really appreciate my mates for what they have been able to achieve thus far. Sharks is one of the big teams in the country and I’m happy with the fact that we are at the top of the league table now and glad that I’m in Sharks today.”, Tayo quipped.
Sharks sit atop the log with 18 points from 10 matches having won five, drawn three and losing just two league ties. They however lost the State Federation Cup finals to city rivals, Dolphins over the weekend.
